Sweet Harmony Baked Pears with Berries Delight

Learn how to make delicious Baked Pears with Berries. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

  • 4 ripe but firm pears (Bosc or Anjou work beautifully)
  • 1 cup mixed berries (fresh or frozen; I like blueberries and raspberries)
  • 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup (for natural sweetness)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (to keep pears fresh and add brightness)
  • Optional: 1/4 cup chopped nuts (walnuts or pecans add great crunch)
  • Pinch of salt

If you don’t have fresh berries on hand, frozen work just as well—just thaw and drain any excess liquid before baking. And if honey isn’t your thing, maple syrup or even a little brown sugar can step in for that touch of sweetness. I always keep a jar of cinnamon and nutmeg in my spice drawer because they’re my go-to for quick flavor boosts in desserts like this.

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a medium-sized baking dish with a bit of butter or cooking spray.
  2. Wash and halve the pears, then carefully scoop out the core with a spoon or melon baller to create a little cavity in each half.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine the berries, honey (or maple syrup), cinnamon, nutmeg, vanilla extract, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt. Stir gently to coat the berries evenly.
  4. Place the pear halves cut-side up in the baking dish. Spoon the berry mixture generously into each pear cavity and scatter any remaining berries around the pears.
  5. Drizzle the melted butter over the pears and berries. If you’re using nuts, sprinkle them on top now for a lovely crunch.
  6. Bake uncovered for 25-30 minutes, or until the pears are tender but still hold their shape and the berries are bubbly and fragrant. You’ll know they’re ready when the pears easily pierce with a fork but don’t turn to mush.
  7. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly before serving. This step is key—I’ve learned the hard way that piping hot fruit can be delicious but also a bit dangerous for little hands (and curious adults!).

One tip from my own kitchen: if you have a hungry toddler or two circling the counter like my kids do, prepping the pears ahead of time can save you from juggling too many hot dishes at once. I often cut and core the pears in the morning and assemble the dish right before baking.
