The key to this dish lies in selecting the right ingredients, just like my dad used to say while stirring his pots. Quality makes all the difference, and with a few staples, you’re ready to create magic.
- 1 pound of elbow macaroni
- 2 cups shredded cooked chicken
- 1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite brand)
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: 1/4 cup chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Cook the elbow macaroni according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the garlic powder and stir for 30 seconds.
- Pour in the milk and gradually add the cheddar and mozzarella cheeses, stirring until melted and smooth.
- Add the cooked macaroni, shredded chicken, and BBQ sauce to the cheese mixture. Stir until well combined.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste, and let the mixture simmer on low heat for 5 minutes.
- Serve hot, garnished with chopped green onions if desired.
