Ingredients
Scale
Ready to gather your ingredients? Here’s what you’ll need to make this delicious recipe:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 pound ground pork
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a bit of heat)
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 cups marinara sauce
Feel free to swap out the ground pork for turkey if you’re aiming for a lighter version. And if you’re like my dad, who could make magic with what we had at home, you can substitute the Parmesan with Pecorino Romano for a sharper taste.
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy clean-up.
- In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic, eggs, parsley, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Mix gently with your hands until just combined—overmixing can lead to tough meatballs.
- Add the milk to the mixture, ensuring everything binds together nicely.
- Using your hands, roll the mixture into 1.5-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet. Let the kids help; it’s a great way to get them involved!
- Bake the meatballs for 20 minutes or until they’re golden brown and cooked through.
- While the meatballs are baking, heat the marinara sauce in a large saucepan over medium heat.
- Once the meatballs are done, gently add them to the sauce and let them simmer for about 10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
And there you have it—a meal that’s as easy as it is delicious, and sure to become a family favorite!
