Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 pound cooked chicken breast, thinly sliced
- 6 slices of deli ham
- 1 cup shredded Swiss cheese
- 1/4 cup Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
If you’re looking for substitutions, you can swap Swiss cheese for mozzarella or Gruyère, and if you prefer, turkey ham works just as well as the traditional ham.
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- On a lightly floured surface, roll out the pizza dough into a large rectangle, roughly 12×14 inches.
- Spread Dijon mustard evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border around the edges.
- Layer the ham slices evenly over the mustard, followed by the sliced chicken breast.
- Sprinkle the shredded Swiss cheese on top, ensuring even coverage for a gooey, cheesy bite in every slice.
- Season the filling with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper to taste.
- Carefully roll the dough into a log, starting from one long side, tucking in the ends as you go. Place it seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
- Brush the top with beaten egg to encourage a beautiful golden crust as it bakes.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the stromboli is golden brown and cooked through. Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing.
As you roll up the stromboli, I like to think of it as rolling up all the love and flavors of my kitchen into one perfect package. It’s okay if it’s not perfect—remember, it’s all about the messy counters and full plates!
