Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Feel free to play around with this recipe! You can substitute the semisweet chocolate chips with white chocolate or even add a handful of chopped nuts for a bit of crunch.
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until the mixture is light and fluffy, which should take about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt until combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing just until combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Fold in the chocolate chips, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the dough.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are set but the centers are still slightly soft. Trust me, this step is key to getting that perfect gooey center!
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
