Ingredients
Scale
The key to this dish lies in selecting the right ingredients, keeping them fresh, and letting their natural flavors shine. Remember, quality ingredients make all the difference in home cooking.
- 1 cup fresh cranberries
- 3–4 jalapeños, sliced
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
If cranberries aren’t in season, you can substitute with dried cranberries and add a little water to hydrate them. Adjust the jalapeños to suit your heat preference.
Instructions
- Start by washing the cranberries and slicing the jalapeños. If you prefer a milder heat, remove the seeds from the jalapeños.
- In a medium saucepan, combine sugar, apple cider vinegar, salt, and cinnamon. Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally.
- Add the cranberries and jalapeños to the saucepan. Lower the heat and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes, or until the cranberries start to pop and the mixture thickens.
- Once done, remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool slightly before transferring to a glass jar.
- Seal the jar and refrigerate. Allow the flavors to meld together overnight for the best taste.
Pro tip: Use a wobbly chair (or not!) for stirring, just like I did with my dad, to add a touch of nostalgia to your cooking experience.
