Ingredients
Scale
The key to this dish lies in selecting the right ingredients, much like how my mom could make magic with just a few pantry staples. Choose fresh jalapeños and good-quality chicken for the best results.
- 1 pound chicken breast, cut into strips
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 jalapeños, seeded and diced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon butter
- Optional: chopped cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season the chicken strips with salt and pepper.
- Add the chicken to the skillet and cook until golden brown on both sides, about 5-6 minutes. Remove the chicken and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add butter, jalapeños, and garlic, sautéing until the jalapeños are softened, about 2-3 minutes.
- Pour in the chicken broth, scraping up any browned bits from the pan. Stir in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer.
- Reduce heat to low and add the Parmesan cheese, stirring until melted and the sauce is smooth.
- Return the chicken to the skillet, tossing to coat in the sauce. Simmer for an additional 5 minutes until the chicken is cooked through.
- Garnish with chopped cilantro if desired and serve hot.
