Zesty Indulgence: Creamy Lemon Garlic Salmon Piccata Delight

Learn how to make delicious Creamy Lemon Garlic Salmon Piccata. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

Here’s what you’ll need to get started. These are all kitchen staples in my home, and I hope they are in yours too:

  • 4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup chicken broth (or vegetable broth for a lighter option)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1/4 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 2 lemons)
  • 2 tablespoons capers, drained
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Feel free to swap fresh garlic with garlic powder in a pinch, and if you’re out of heavy cream, half-and-half works too, though it’ll be slightly less creamy.

Instructions

  1. Start by seasoning the salmon fillets with salt and pepper. If you’re like me, you might enjoy this process while chatting with your little ones about their day.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is shimmering, add the salmon fillets, skin-side down. Cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, until the salmon is golden brown and cooked through. Remove the salmon from the skillet and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, lower the heat to medium and add the minced garlic. Sauté until fragrant, which should take about 30 seconds. Be careful not to burn it—burnt garlic can throw off the entire dish!
  4. Pour in the chicken broth and lemon juice, using a wooden spoon to scrape up any bits stuck to the bottom of the pan. Let it simmer for about 2 minutes.
  5. Stir in the heavy cream and capers, bringing the mixture to a gentle simmer. Let it cook for about 3-4 minutes until slightly thickened.
  6. Add the butter and let it melt into the sauce, then sprinkle in the chopped parsley.
  7. Return the salmon to the skillet, spooning the sauce over the fillets to coat them well. Let everything heat through for another 2 minutes.
  8. Serve immediately, and enjoy the symphony of flavors with your loved ones!
