Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 can (10.5 ounces) condensed cream of chicken soup
- 1 packet (0.87 ounces) chicken gravy mix
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- Optional: 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme for an herbal twist
Feel free to substitute the chicken breasts with boneless thighs for a richer flavor, or use a gluten-free gravy mix if needed. Remember, home cooking is about adapting recipes to fit your needs and preferences!
Instructions
- Begin by placing the chicken breasts in the bottom of your slow cooker. This will ensure they cook evenly and absorb all the flavors.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the cream of chicken soup, chicken gravy mix, and chicken broth until smooth. Pour this mixture over the chicken.
- Sprinkle the garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper over the top. If you’re using thyme, add it now for an extra layer of flavor.
- Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 6-7 hours, or on high for 3-4 hours. You’ll know it’s ready when the chicken is tender and easy to shred.
- Once cooked, use two forks to shred the chicken directly in the crockpot, mixing it with the gravy. This step is my favorite because it’s where the magic happens—the chicken soaks up all that delicious gravy!
