Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound roast beef, thinly sliced
- 1 can (10.5 ounces) beef consommé
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tube (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent roll dough
- 6 slices provolone cheese
- 1 tablespoon butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon dried Italian seasoning
Feel free to substitute provolone with Swiss or mozzarella if that’s more your style, or if that’s what’s in the fridge. It’s all about working with what you have and making it delicious.
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- In a small saucepan, combine the beef consommé, water, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring to a gentle simmer over medium heat, then reduce to low to keep warm.
- Unroll the crescent roll dough onto the prepared baking sheet. Press the seams together to form a single sheet.
- Layer the roast beef evenly over the dough, followed by the provolone cheese slices.
- Carefully roll up the dough, starting from a long side. Pinch the edges to seal, then place seam side down on the baking sheet.
- Brush the top with melted butter and sprinkle with garlic powder and Italian seasoning.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown and the cheese is bubbly. My dad always said, “You eat with your eyes first,” and the sight of that crispy, golden crust is enough to make anyone’s mouth water.
- Slice into squares and serve with the warm au jus for dipping. Enjoy every bite of this comforting dish!
