Ingredients
Scale
- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 3/4 cups milk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Optional: 1/2 cup chocolate chips or berries
Feel free to swap the milk for almond milk if you’re dairy-free, or toss in your favorite add-ins. After all, my mom taught me that a few simple ingredients can create magic.
Instructions
- Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions. My trusty old waffle iron has seen many a breakfast battle and survived.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
- In another bowl, mix the milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. A few lumps are perfectly okay—remember, we’re embracing imperfection.
- Gently fold in chocolate chips or berries if using. My kids love to sneak in extra chocolate chips when I’m not looking!
- Lightly grease the waffle iron with cooking spray or a brush of oil.
- Scoop the batter onto the preheated waffle iron and cook until golden brown and crisp, about 4-5 minutes.
- Serve warm, with your favorite toppings like maple syrup or fresh fruit.
