Ingredients
Scale
Here’s what you’ll need to gather before we start:
- 2 racks of pork ribs
- 1 cup of BBQ sauce (your favorite kind)
- 1/4 cup of apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon of brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon of smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon of onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
Feel free to substitute the BBQ sauce with homemade if you have a little extra time. I often use my mom’s trick of adding a dash of soy sauce to store-bought BBQ for an extra depth of flavor.
Instructions
- Start by prepping your ribs. Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs for a more tender bite. This is a trick my dad swore by to ensure every rib was fall-off-the-bone perfect.
- Mix together the apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper in a small bowl.
- Rub this fragrant mixture all over the ribs, ensuring every nook and cranny is coated.
- Place the ribs in your slow cooker, standing them up if necessary to fit. Pour the BBQ sauce over the top.
- Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or on high for 3-4 hours. You’ll know they’re done when the meat is tender and easily pulls away from the bone.
- If you like a bit of char, pop them under the broiler for a few minutes after slow cooking. This is a step I never skip because it reminds me of the charred edges of my childhood roasts.
