Garlic Parmesan Roasted Shrimp That Will Elevate Your Dinner Game

Learn how to make delicious Garlic Parmesan Roasted Shrimp. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined (tail-on or off, your choice)
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced (fresh garlic is best, but jarred works in a pinch)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (freshly grated for the best flavor)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (or melted butter if you want it richer)
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (adds a subtle smoky depth; regular paprika works too)
  • 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional, for a little heat)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley (or 1 teaspoon dried parsley as a substitute)
  • Juice of half a lemon (adds brightness and balances richness)

If you’re watching your sodium intake, you can reduce the Parmesan or use a low-sodium cheese alternative. For a dairy-free twist, leave out the cheese and add a sprinkle of nutritional yeast for that umami kick.

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it to prevent sticking.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the shrimp, olive oil (or melted butter), minced garlic, smoked paprika, crushed red pepper flakes (if using), salt, and black pepper. Toss everything until the shrimp are evenly coated.
  3. Spread the shrimp out in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet. Make sure they’re not overcrowded—this helps them roast evenly instead of steaming.
  4. Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese evenly over the shrimp. Don’t be shy here; the cheese melts into a golden, crispy topping that’s absolutely irresistible.
  5. Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and roast for 8-10 minutes. Keep a close eye—shrimp cook quickly and you want them to be pink and opaque, not rubbery. If you’re unsure, check at 8 minutes and adjust accordingly.
  6. Once cooked, remove from the oven and immediately squeeze the fresh lemon juice over the shrimp. Toss gently to combine with the parsley.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with a little extra parsley or a lemon wedge on the side if you like.

From my own kitchen adventures, I’ve learned that timing is everything. Overcooked shrimp is a rookie mistake I made more times than I care to admit. When cooking with kids underfoot, I keep a timer close and remind myself to breathe while the shrimp work their magic.
