Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 1 cup cooked rice (white or brown, your choice)
- 1/4 cup hot honey (store-bought or homemade by mixing honey and hot sauce)
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped green onions for garnish
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and diced red bell pepper, cooking for another 2 minutes until they start to soften. This step always reminds me of my mom’s kitchen, where the aroma of garlic was like a warm hug.
- Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef. Cook, breaking it apart with a wooden spoon, until it’s browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the soy sauce, sesame oil, and salt and pepper. Let it simmer for another minute to allow the flavors to meld.
- Lower the heat and add the cooked rice, mixing everything well. Drizzle the hot honey over the beef and rice mixture, stirring gently to coat evenly.
- Allow the mixture to cook for an additional 2 minutes, letting the hot honey slightly caramelize. This adds a depth of flavor that’s truly addictive.
- Remove from heat and serve immediately, garnished with chopped green onions. Enjoy your cozy, home-cooked feast!
