The key to this dish lies in selecting the right ingredients. Freshness is crucial, especially with seafood, and using quality ingredients will elevate your lasagna to new heights. Here’s what you’ll need:
- 9 lasagna noodles
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 pound scallops
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 cups grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh basil for garnish
Substitution tip: If you’re not a fan of scallops, feel free to swap them for crab meat or more shrimp!
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the lasagna noodles according to package instructions. Set aside.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, warm the olive oil. Add garlic and sauté until fragrant.
- Add shrimp and scallops to the skillet. Cook until just opaque, about 2-3 minutes. Season with salt and pepper. Remove from heat.
- In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, and a pinch of salt.
- Spread a thin layer of marinara sauce on the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Layer three noodles, half of the ricotta mixture, half of the seafood, a third of the mozzarella, and a third of the Parmesan. Repeat layers.
- Top with remaining noodles, marinara sauce, mozzarella, and Parmesan. Drizzle with heavy cream.
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes until cheese is bubbly and golden.
