- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen works great)
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred)
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger (or 1/4 teaspoon ground ginger)
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water (for thickening)
- Sesame seeds for garnish
- Cooked rice or quinoa for serving
Instructions
Ready to get cooking? Let’s gather the family, put on some fun music, and dive in!
- Start by heating a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the sesame oil and let it warm up for a minute.
- Add the chicken pieces to the skillet and season with a pinch of salt and pepper. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, until the chicken is golden brown and cooked through. Make sure to stir occasionally to avoid sticking.
- Once the chicken is cooked, add the minced garlic and ginger. Stir for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Next, pour in the honey and soy sauce, stirring to coat the chicken evenly. Let it simmer for another 2-3 minutes. This step is where the magic happens—the sauce will start to thicken slightly.
- Add the broccoli florets to the skillet. If you’re using fresh broccoli, let it cook for about 4-5 minutes until tender-crisp. If using frozen, just a couple of minutes will do.
- Finally, mix in the cornstarch slurry (the cornstarch mixed with water) and stir until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency, about 1-2 minutes.
- Serve your Honey Sesame Chicken & Broccoli over a bed of rice or quinoa, and sprinkle with sesame seeds for that extra flair!
