Irresistibly Sweet and Savory Maple Glazed Pork Chops Recipe

Learn how to make delicious Maple Glazed Pork Chops. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

  • 4 bone-in pork chops, about 1-inch thick (substitute boneless if preferred, just reduce cooking time slightly)
  • 1/3 cup pure maple syrup (look for 100% pure for the best flavor)
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard (adds a nice tang, but you can swap for whole grain mustard)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced (or 1 teaspoon garlic powder in a pinch)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar (balances the sweetness, white vinegar works too)
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional, but it adds a subtle smoky depth)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil, for searing

Instructions

  1. Start by patting the pork chops dry with paper towels—this step is key to getting a nice sear. Season both sides generously with salt, pepper, and smoked paprika if using.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. When the oil shimmers, add the pork chops and sear for about 3-4 minutes per side until they develop a golden-brown crust. They won’t be fully cooked yet, but that’s okay.
  3. While the pork chops are searing, whisk together the maple syrup, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, and apple cider vinegar in a small bowl. This glaze is where the magic happens.
  4. Once the chops are nicely seared, lower the heat to medium and pour the maple glaze over them. Let the pork chops cook in the glaze, turning them occasionally, for about 5-7 minutes. The glaze will thicken and coat the chops beautifully.
  5. Check the internal temperature of the chops with a meat thermometer—it should read 145°F. If they need more time, cook a few minutes longer, turning often to avoid burning the glaze.
  6. Once done, remove the chops from the pan and let them rest for 5 minutes. This helps the juices redistribute and keeps the meat tender.
  7. Before serving, spoon the remaining glaze from the pan over the chops for an extra glossy finish. I’ve learned over time that resting the meat makes all the difference between dry pork and juicy perfection—something my mom’s cooking always reminded me of with her simple but effective tricks.
