Ingredients
Scale
The key to this dish lies in selecting the right ingredients. Freshness is your friend here, and a few simple, quality items can make all the difference.
- 12 ounces pasta of your choice
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a bit of heat)
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil leaves for garnish
If you’re missing an ingredient, don’t fret. You can swap out heavy cream for coconut milk for a dairy-free version or use whole-wheat pasta for a healthier twist.
Instructions
- In a large pot, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes.
- Add crushed tomatoes, heavy cream, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Stir well to combine.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, then add the pasta. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Cook for 12-15 minutes or until the pasta is al dente and has absorbed most of the sauce.
- Stir in Parmesan cheese until melted and well incorporated.
- Remove from heat, garnish with fresh basil, and serve immediately.
