Ingredients
Scale
The key to this dish lies in selecting the right ingredients, just like my mom did with her magical tomato cans and spices. A few quality ingredients make all the difference.
- 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup orzo pasta
- 2 cups chicken broth
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon dried Italian herbs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup heavy cream
- Fresh parsley for garnish
For a twist, you can swap out the chicken breasts for thighs or add a dash of red pepper flakes for some heat. It’s all about what suits your family’s taste buds!
Instructions
- Start by seasoning the chicken breasts with salt, pepper, and Italian herbs.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat and sear the chicken breasts until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side. Don’t worry, they’ll finish cooking in the slow cooker!
- Place the seared chicken in your slow cooker and add minced garlic, chicken broth, and orzo.
- Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours or until the chicken is tender and cooked through.
- About 30 minutes before serving, stir in the Parmesan cheese and heavy cream, letting it cook until the orzo is creamy and the flavors meld together.
- Garnish with fresh parsley before serving and enjoy the comforting flavors.
