Warm Up Your Holidays with a Spiced Christmas Margarita Recipe

Learn how to make delicious Spiced Christmas Margarita. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

  • 2 ounces tequila blanco (choose a good quality one for smoothness)
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice (about 1 large lime)
  • 1 ounce orange liqueur (like Cointreau or Triple Sec)
  • 1/2 ounce cinnamon simple syrup* (see tip below)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • Pinch of ground cloves
  • Ice cubes
  • Coarse salt or sugar, for rimming the glass
  • Orange or lime wedge, for garnish

*Cinnamon simple syrup: To make this, dissolve 1/2 cup sugar in 1/2 cup water over medium heat, add 2 cinnamon sticks, and simmer for 5 minutes. Cool and remove sticks. Store in the fridge for up to a week. If you’re short on time, you can substitute with 1/2 ounce of maple syrup or honey for a different but still delicious twist.

Instructions

  1. Start by preparing your glass. Run a lime wedge around the rim, then dip the glass into coarse salt or sugar. This adds a festive touch and balances the spices beautifully.
  2. Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice cubes. I like to use large ice so it melts slowly, keeping the drink chilled without watering it down too fast.
  3. Add tequila, fresh lime juice, orange liqueur, cinnamon simple syrup, ground allspice, and ground cloves to the shaker.
  4. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds. I remember shaking drinks while my kids asked a million questions, so I always make sure this step is quick but thorough—no one wants a weak margarita!
  5. Strain the mixture into your prepared glass over fresh ice. The aroma of cinnamon and clove hits you first, which always makes me smile and think of cozy holiday mornings.
  6. Garnish with an orange or lime wedge, or even a cinnamon stick if you’re feeling fancy.
  7. Take a moment to breathe it in before your first sip. This is your well-deserved festive moment.
