Ingredients
Scale
The key to this dish lies in selecting the right ingredients. I’ve learned from my mom’s knack for turning simple pantry staples into something extraordinary. Here’s what you’ll need:
- 8 oz spaghetti or your favorite pasta
- 1 lb medium shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup parsley, chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Lemon wedges for serving
Feel free to use whole wheat pasta for a healthier twist, or swap the shrimp for chicken if you prefer. The beauty of home cooking is making it work for you!
Instructions
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions. Reserve 1/4 cup of pasta water and drain the rest.
- In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and red pepper flakes, sautéing until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Add the shrimp to the skillet, seasoning with salt and pepper. Cook until pink and opaque, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove shrimp and set aside.
- Lower the heat and add the reserved pasta water, stirring in the Parmesan until melted and smooth.
- Toss the pasta in the sauce, ensuring it’s well coated. Return the shrimp to the skillet and mix with the pasta.
- Garnish with parsley and serve with lemon wedges on the side.
