Ingredients
Scale
Gathering your ingredients is the first step in any culinary adventure. Here’s what you’ll need for these spicy parcels of joy:
- 1 pound ground pork
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon chili paste (adjust for heat preference)
- 1 scallion, finely chopped
- 1 package wonton wrappers
- 1 egg, beaten (for sealing)
- 1/4 cup water
- Optional: chopped cilantro for garnish
If you don’t have chili paste, feel free to swap it with a dash of hot sauce or even a sprinkle of red pepper flakes. Cooking is about flexibility, after all!
Instructions
Cooking is an art, but it doesn’t have to be complicated. Follow these steps, and you’ll be serving up delicious wontons in no time:
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, chili paste, and scallion. Mix until well combined.
- Lay a wonton wrapper on a clean surface. Place about a teaspoon of the pork mixture in the center.
- Dip your finger in the beaten egg and run it along the edges of the wrapper. Fold the wrapper over the filling to form a triangle, pressing the edges to seal.
- Repeat the process with the remaining wrappers and filling, placing the completed wontons on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Bring a pot of water to a boil. Gently drop the wontons in batches, cooking for about 3-4 minutes or until they float to the top.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and serve hot, garnished with cilantro if desired.
Pro tip: Don’t overcrowd the pot when boiling the wontons. Give them space to cook evenly.
