Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 3/4 cup whole milk
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 2 cups diced apples (Granny Smith or your favorite variety)
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for dusting, optional)
If you’re out of cinnamon or nutmeg, don’t worry—apple pie spice works wonders, too. And if you prefer a non-dairy option, almond milk can be a great substitute for whole milk.
Instructions
- Preheat your air fryer to 370°F. I love using this time to get all my ingredients ready, just like my mom used to do before the chaos of dinner time began.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Stir together until everything is well mixed.
- In another bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, vanilla extract, and melted butter. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Fold in the diced apples gently. You want those apple bits to stay intact for a nice bite in every fritter.
- Spoon the batter into the air fryer basket, making sure to leave space between each fritter for even cooking. Depending on your air fryer size, you may need to do this in batches.
- Cook for 8-10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the fritters are golden brown and cooked through.
- Once done, remove from the air fryer and let them cool slightly. Dust with powdered sugar if desired, and enjoy!
