Ingredients
Scale
Gathering the ingredients is as straightforward as it gets, keeping in line with my philosophy of hassle-free home cooking. Here’s what you need:
- 3 large carrots
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon sea salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional, for a smoky flavor)
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
Feel free to substitute olive oil with avocado oil if you prefer its flavor, or add a dash of cinnamon for a sweet twist. Flexibility is key in my kitchen.
Instructions
Let’s get into the fun part—making these carrot chips! Follow these simple steps to achieve crispy perfection:
- Preheat your air fryer to 350°F. This usually takes about 3-5 minutes.
- Wash and peel the carrots. Then, using a mandoline slicer (carefully!), slice the carrots into thin rounds, about 1/8 inch thick. The thinner, the crispier.
- In a large bowl, toss the carrot slices with olive oil, sea salt, black pepper, and any additional spices you’re using. Make sure each slice is well-coated.
- Arrange the carrot slices in a single layer in the air fryer basket. You may need to do this in batches to avoid overcrowding, which can lead to uneven cooking.
- Air fry for 10-12 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to ensure even crisping. Keep an eye on them as they can go from golden to burnt quickly.
- Once done, let them cool slightly on a wire rack to maintain their crispiness.
Just like my mom could whip up magic with a few ingredients, these chips bring a bit of wonder with minimal effort.
