Ingredients
Scale
Gathering your ingredients is the first step in this delicious journey. Here’s what you need:
- 1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 3 (8-ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 large eggs
- 2 cups peeled, chopped apples (I love using Granny Smith for a tart flavor)
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
If you’re short on graham crackers, digestive biscuits work wonderfully too. And if you prefer your desserts a tad less sweet, feel free to reduce the sugar in the crumble topping. Remember, home cooking is about making it your own!
Instructions
Let’s dive into the cooking process, step by step.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch springform pan with butter.
- In a medium bowl, mix the graham cracker crumbs, 1/4 cup sugar, and melted butter until well combined. Press the mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan to form the crust.
- In a large bowl, beat the cream cheese and 1 cup sugar together until smooth and creamy. Add the vanilla extract, and mix well.
- Add the eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition until just combined. Pour this mixture over the crust.
- In another bowl, toss the chopped apples with 1/4 cup flour and sprinkle them evenly over the cream cheese mixture.
- For the crumble topping, combine the remaining 1/4 cup flour, brown sugar, and cinnamon. Cut in the chilled butter until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Sprinkle over the apples.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 50-60 minutes, or until the cheesecake is set and the topping is golden brown. Let it cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 4 hours before serving.
While baking, I love to tell my kids stories about my own childhood baking adventures with my parents. It’s these little moments that make cooking at home so special.
