Ingredients
Scale
Gather these ingredients for a meal that’s both satisfying and simple:
- 1 pound of beef sirloin, thinly sliced
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 cup broccoli florets
- 1 cup snap peas
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons of water
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cooked rice for serving
If you’re like me and sometimes find yourself staring at the fridge wondering what to substitute, here are a few ideas: swap beef for chicken or tofu, or use whatever veggies are in your crisper drawer.
Instructions
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large pan over medium-high heat. Add the beef slices and cook until browned, about 3-4 minutes. Remove the beef and set it aside.
- In the same pan, heat the remaining oil. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
- Add the bell peppers, broccoli, and snap peas to the pan. Stir-fry for 5-7 minutes until the veggies are tender-crisp.
- Return the beef to the pan. Pour in the soy sauce and oyster sauce, stirring everything to combine.
- Add the cornstarch mixture to the pan and stir until the sauce thickens, about 1-2 minutes.
- Season with salt and pepper to taste, then serve hot over a bed of cooked rice.
Pro tip: Keep your veggies crisp by not overcooking them. This way, they retain their bright colors and crunch, making the dish not only delicious but visually appealing.
