Ingredients
Scale
Before you start cooking, make sure your pantry is stocked with these essentials. I’ve kept it simple with ingredients you probably already have, but feel free to adjust based on your personal taste and what’s in your cupboard.
- 1 pound ground beef
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1/2 cup grated parmesan cheese
- Optional: 1/2 cup red wine for an extra depth of flavor
Instructions
With everything prepped and ready, it’s time to get cooking. Follow these simple steps, and you’ll have dinner on the table in no time.
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Once hot, add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute, stirring to prevent burning.
- Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a wooden spoon as it cooks, about 8 minutes.
- Stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. If using, add the red wine now.
- Pour in the beef broth and bring the mixture to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let it cook for about 15 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together.
- Sprinkle the parmesan cheese over the top before serving. Enjoy the meal with a side salad or crusty bread for a complete dinner.
