Ingredients
Scale
Let’s keep it simple, folks. Here’s what you’ll need:
- 8 ounces fettuccine pasta
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon blackened seasoning (Cajun seasoning works too!)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
If you’re out of blackened seasoning, you can mix your own with paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, and a touch of oregano. It’s all about flexibility and making it work with what you have on hand.
Instructions
- Start by cooking the fettuccine according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside, making sure to reserve a cup of pasta water.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Toss the shrimp with blackened seasoning until evenly coated.
- Add the shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until they are pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp and set aside.
- In the same skillet, lower the heat to medium and add the butter. Once melted, stir in the garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Pour in the heavy cream, stirring constantly. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and let it thicken for about 3-4 minutes.
- Gradually add the Parmesan cheese, stirring until the sauce is smooth and creamy. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of the reserved pasta water.
- Season the sauce with salt and pepper to taste. Toss in the cooked fettuccine, ensuring it’s well-coated with the Alfredo sauce.
- Finally, return the shrimp to the skillet and gently toss to combine. Allow everything to heat through for another minute. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired.
And there you have it, folks—plate up and enjoy!
