Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound of fresh carrots, peeled and sliced into sticks
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 3 tablespoons pure maple syrup
- 1/2 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 2 tablespoons water
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Start by melting the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Keep an eye on it as it bubbles and foams, eventually turning a golden brown. This should take about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the sliced carrots to the skillet, tossing them in the brown butter for about 2 minutes until they’re well-coated.
- Pour in the maple syrup, salt, pepper, and cinnamon, stirring to combine all the flavors.
- Add the water to the skillet, cover it with a lid, and let the carrots cook for about 10-12 minutes, or until they become tender when pierced with a fork.
- Remove the lid and increase the heat slightly to let the glaze thicken for an additional 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Transfer the carrots to a serving dish and sprinkle with fresh parsley if desired. Serve warm.
