Ultimate Cheesesteak-Stuffed Garlic Bread Loaf Delight

Learn how to make delicious Cheesesteak-Stuffed Garlic Bread Loaf. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

Gather your ingredients, and let’s dive into this deliciously simple dish. Here’s what you’ll need:

  • 1 large loaf of Italian bread
  • 1 pound of thinly sliced ribeye steak
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups shredded provolone cheese
  • 4 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste

If you can’t find ribeye, flank steak works as a great substitute. Provolone is my go-to for that classic cheesesteak flavor, but feel free to experiment with other cheeses you love.

Instructions

Ready to get started? Here’s how you can bring this delicious loaf to life:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and bell pepper, sautéing until soft, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the ribeye steak to the skillet. Season with salt and pepper, cooking until the meat is browned and cooked through, roughly 6-8 minutes. Set aside.
  4. Cut the top off your Italian loaf horizontally and hollow out the inside, leaving a 1-inch thick shell.
  5. In a small bowl, mix together the melted butter, minced garlic, and oregano. Brush the inside of the loaf generously with this garlic butter mixture.
  6. Fill the loaf with half of the shredded cheese, followed by the steak mixture, then top with the remaining cheese.
  7. Place the top of the loaf back on, wrap in foil, and bake for 25 minutes in the preheated oven.
  8. Unwrap the foil and bake for an additional 5-10 minutes, until the bread is crispy and golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing and serving.

One tip from my kitchen to yours: don’t skip the resting period after baking. It allows the cheese to set slightly, making it easier to slice and serve neatly.
