Ingredients
Scale
- 1 large sourdough bread loaf
- 1 cup frozen chopped spinach, thawed and drained
- 1 cup canned artichoke hearts, drained and chopped
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
If you’re missing an ingredient, don’t worry. Swap mozzarella with cheddar for a sharper taste, or use fresh spinach if you have some on hand. Home cooking is all about flexibility and making do with what’s available.
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Carefully cut the top off the sourdough loaf and hollow out the center, leaving about an inch of bread on the sides and bottom.
- In a large bowl, combine spinach, artichoke hearts, mozzarella, Parmesan, cream cheese, mayonnaise, sour cream, garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Spoon the cheesy mixture into the hollowed-out bread loaf, packing it tightly.
- Brush the outside of the bread with olive oil to ensure a crispy crust.
- Place the filled bread on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Remove from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
This recipe is forgiving, so don’t stress if the filling overflows a bit or the crust gets extra crispy. That’s the charm of home cooking—it’s all about those perfectly imperfect results.
