- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup dark chocolate chips (or substitute with milk chocolate if preferred)

- In a separate large bowl, beat the sugar and melted butter until combined. Add the eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until smooth.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Avoid over-mixing to ensure the dessert remains tender.
- Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts, if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
- Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
