Ingredients
Scale
Here’s what you’ll need to make this scrumptious cake:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
If you’re out of unsalted butter, feel free to substitute with salted butter and just skip the added salt. For a dairy-free option, almond milk works beautifully here.
Instructions
Let’s get to the fun part—baking!
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking pan.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Give it a good whisk to combine.
- Add in the peanut butter and melted butter. Stir until well incorporated.
- Crack in the eggs, add the vanilla extract, and pour in the milk. Mix until you have a smooth batter with no lumps.
- Fold in the chocolate chips, ensuring they’re evenly distributed throughout the batter.
- Pour the batter into your prepared baking pan, using a spatula to spread it evenly.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs. Remember, we want it gooey!
- Let the cake cool for about 10 minutes before serving it warm. This is the perfect time to tidy up the kitchen or sip on a cup of tea.
