Ingredients
Scale
Let’s keep it simple and straightforward with ingredients you probably already have in your pantry:
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cups mini marshmallows
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Pinch of salt
If you’re missing an ingredient or two, don’t worry! You can substitute marshmallows with marshmallow creme in a pinch. And if semi-sweet chocolate isn’t your thing, milk chocolate works just as well.
Instructions
- In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Be patient and let it melt slowly to avoid burning.
- Add the mini marshmallows to the melted butter, stirring constantly until they are fully melted and blended together. This should take about 2-3 minutes.
- Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the chocolate chips, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt until the chocolate is completely melted and the mixture is smooth.
- Gently fold in the Rice Krispies cereal, ensuring each piece is evenly coated with the marshmallow-chocolate mixture. This is where my kids love to jump in and help!
- Press the mixture into a greased 9×13 inch pan using a buttered spatula or wax paper. You want to press firmly but not crush the cereal.
- Allow the mixture to cool at room temperature for about 20 minutes, then cut into squares and enjoy!
These steps are straightforward enough to whip up a batch even on the busiest days, because who has time for complicated recipes?
