Ingredients
Scale
This recipe calls for a handful of simple ingredients, many of which you might already have in your kitchen. Here’s what you’ll need:
- 4 white fish fillets (such as cod or tilapia)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup chicken broth
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Lemon wedges for serving
Feel free to substitute the heavy cream with coconut milk for a dairy-free option, or add a pinch of red pepper flakes for a little kick. Cooking is about adapting and making it your own!
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Pour in the heavy cream and chicken broth, stirring gently to combine. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
- Stir in the Parmesan cheese and thyme, and season with salt and pepper to taste. Let the sauce thicken for 3-4 minutes.
- Gently place the fish fillets into the sauce, spooning some of the sauce over the top. Cover the skillet and let the fish cook for 8-10 minutes, or until it flakes easily with a fork.
- Once cooked, serve the fish with a generous ladle of the creamy sauce and a squeeze of lemon juice.
One of my personal tips is to keep an eye on the sauce. If it reduces too quickly, just add a splash more broth. Remember, cooking is an art, not a science!
