Ingredients
Scale
- 12 oz of your favorite pasta (I love penne or rigatoni for this)
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup beef broth
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish
As a mom who’s always looking for shortcuts, feel free to swap ground beef with turkey or chicken, and if you’re out of Parmesan, Pecorino Romano works beautifully too!
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and cook until translucent, about 3-4 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
- Increase the heat to medium-high, add the ground beef, and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 6-8 minutes.
- Drain any excess fat from the skillet and return to heat. Stir in the beef broth and bring to a simmer.
- Reduce the heat to low and pour in the heavy cream, stirring to combine. Let it simmer for a couple of minutes until slightly thickened.
- Add the Parmesan cheese, stirring until melted and the sauce is creamy. Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning to taste.
- Toss in the cooked pasta, ensuring every piece is coated in the luscious sauce. Cook for another 2-3 minutes to heat through.
- Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
