Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil for frying
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 3 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon grated fresh ginger
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 green onion, chopped
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
Instructions
- Start by preparing your beef. In a bowl, combine the cornstarch, all-purpose flour, salt, and pepper. Toss the beef slices in this mixture until they’re evenly coated.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Once hot, fry the beef in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Cook until each piece is crispy and golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- In the same skillet, discard excess oil, leaving about a tablespoon. Add the garlic and ginger, sautéing until fragrant.
- Next, add the soy sauce, sweet chili sauce, honey, and rice vinegar to the skillet. Stir until the sauce is well combined and starts to thicken.
- Return the crispy beef to the skillet, tossing to coat each piece in the sticky sauce. Add the bell pepper slices and stir-fry for an additional 2 minutes until they’re tender-crisp.
- Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds before serving.
