Ingredients
Scale
- 4 slices of thick brioche bread
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup whole milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- A pinch of salt
- 4 pieces of pre-cooked fried chicken tenders
- 2 tablespoons butter
- Maple syrup for drizzling (optional)
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
If brioche isn’t available, feel free to use any other thick, sturdy bread like challah or even a thick-cut white bread. The key is to have something that can hold up to the French toast batter and the delicious weight of the chicken.
Instructions
- In a shallow dish, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, sugar, and salt until fully combined.
- Dip each slice of brioche in the egg mixture, ensuring both sides are well-coated. Let the excess drip off.
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and add the butter. Once melted and bubbling, add the battered bread slices.
- Cook the bread for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.
- Meanwhile, reheat the fried chicken tenders according to package instructions or until they’re hot and crispy.
- Once the bread is done, assemble the sandwich by placing a piece of fried chicken between two slices of French toast.
- For an extra touch of indulgence, drizzle with maple syrup and dust with powdered sugar.
It’s as simple as that! Cooking with kids? Let them help with dipping the bread or assembling the sandwiches. Just like my mom’s kitchen was a place of creativity and love, yours can be too.
