Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 cup chocolate chips (optional, but highly recommended!)
If you’re out of vanilla extract, don’t sweat it. A dash of almond extract can add a delightful twist. And if you’re feeling adventurous, throw in a handful of nuts or a swirl of peanut butter for extra flavor.
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with butter or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter and granulated sugar. Mix until smooth and creamy. You can use a spoon or an electric mixer, whatever you prefer.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract, and feel free to let the kids help with this part. My little ones love cracking eggs!
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder. Slowly incorporate the dry ingredients into the wet mixture, stirring just until combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips if you’re using them. Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few crumbs. Remember, a slightly underbaked center is what gives these brownies their gooey texture!
- Let the brownies cool in the pan before slicing them into squares. Enjoy with a cold glass of milk or a warm cup of coffee.
