Crispy Delights: Discover the Magic of Fried Mushrooms

Learn how to make delicious Fried Mushrooms. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

Before we start frying, let’s gather everything we need. You’ll be delighted to know that the ingredient list is short and sweet, just like my favorite recipes.

  • 1 pound of fresh mushrooms, cleaned and sliced
  • 1 cup of all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup of breadcrumbs (panko works great for extra crunch)
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
  • Vegetable oil for frying

If you find yourself out of breadcrumbs, crushed cornflakes or even crushed crackers can be a wonderful substitute. It’s all about using what you have on hand—just like my mom used to do.

Instructions

This recipe is as straightforward as they come. Let’s get those mushrooms fried and ready to enjoy.

  1. Start by preparing your mushrooms. Clean them thoroughly and slice them evenly. Remember, a uniform size ensures they cook at the same rate.
  2. In a shallow dish, mix the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
  3. Beat the eggs in another shallow bowl. This will act as the glue to help the breadcrumbs stick to the mushrooms.
  4. Place the breadcrumbs in a third bowl. Now, you’re ready to set up a little assembly line: flour mixture, eggs, and breadcrumbs.
  5. Heat about an inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. You’re aiming for around 350°F, which is perfect for frying.
  6. Dip each mushroom slice in the flour mixture, then the beaten eggs, and finally coat them with breadcrumbs.
  7. Carefully place the coated mushrooms in the hot oil. Fry them in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan, for about 3-4 minutes per side, until they’re golden brown and crispy.
  8. Remove the fried mushrooms using a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

And there you have it—crispy, delicious fried mushrooms. My little ones always hover around the stove, eager to snatch one right from the pan. Watch out for eager hands!
