Ingredients
Scale
Let’s gather our ingredients! As always, I believe in using what you have on hand, so feel free to make substitutions where needed.
- 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional for a little heat)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Substitution Suggestions:
- No shrimp? Try this with chicken or even tofu for a vegetarian option.
- If you’re out of fresh parsley, dried works too, though the flavor won’t be as bright.
- Butter can be swapped for a vegan alternative or more olive oil if you prefer.
Instructions
Cooking is as much about the journey as it is about the destination. Here’s how you can create this delightful dish:
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp in a single layer and season with salt, pepper, and paprika. Cook for 1-2 minutes per side until the shrimp is pink and opaque. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the butter. Once melted, stir in the minced garlic, cooking for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic!
- Add the red pepper flakes, if using, and return the shrimp to the skillet. Stir to coat the shrimp in the garlic butter sauce.
- Squeeze the lemon juice over the shrimp and sprinkle with fresh parsley. Toss everything together gently to combine.
- Serve immediately, enjoying the comforting aroma and flavors that fill your kitchen.
