Ingredients
Scale
Gather these simple ingredients, and you’re halfway to a delicious meal:
- 1 pound ground beef
- 12 ounces pasta (penne or rotini work well)
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 can (14 ounces) diced tomatoes
- 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
Feel free to swap out ingredients based on what you have at home. Ground turkey can replace beef, or use your favorite cheese blend for a different flavor.
Instructions
Let’s get cooking! Follow these simple steps:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onions and garlic, sautéing until fragrant and translucent.
- Add ground beef to the skillet, cooking until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Stir in diced tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes to let the flavors meld.
- Combine the cooked pasta and beef mixture in a large baking dish.
- Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese over the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let it cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!
One of my favorite memories is seeing my kids peek into the oven, eagerly waiting for the cheese to melt. It’s the little moments like these that make cooking so rewarding.
