Irresistibly Crunchy and Guilt-Free: The Ultimate Healthy Apple Crisp Recipe

Learn how to make delicious Healthy Apple Crisp. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

  • 6 cups sliced Granny Smith apples (about 56 medium apples)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup almond flour
  • 1/4 cup coconut sugar
  • 1/4 cup melted coconut oil
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt

Feel free to play around with the spices. If nutmeg isn’t your thing, a pinch of cloves or allspice can add a nice twist. And if you’re out of coconut sugar, brown sugar works just fine.

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a baking dish with coconut oil.
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced apples with lemon juice, maple syrup, cinnamon, and nutmeg. The lemon juice keeps the apples from browning and adds a zing to the mix.
  3. Spread the apple mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
  4. In another bowl, combine rolled oats, almond flour, coconut sugar, melted coconut oil, and salt. Stir until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  5. Sprinkle the oat mixture over the apples, covering them completely.
  6. Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the apples are tender. You’ll know it’s ready when your kitchen smells like a fall day.
  7. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. This gives the crisp time to set and makes for easier serving.
