Ingredients
Scale
- 4 salmon fillets (about 6 ounces each)
- 1/4 cup honey
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 cups cooked rice (white or brown)
- 1 cup steamed broccoli
- 1/2 cup sliced green onions
- Sesame seeds for garnish
Feel free to swap the rice with quinoa or cauliflower rice for a different texture, or use tamari instead of soy sauce for a gluten-free option. The beauty of home cooking lies in its flexibility, after all.
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, lemon juice, and olive oil. This luscious sauce is what dreams are made of, and it’s as simple as it is stunning.
- Place the salmon fillets on the prepared baking sheet, skin-side down if your fillets have skin. Season them lightly with salt and pepper.
- Brush the honey-garlic mixture generously over the salmon fillets, ensuring they are well-coated.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork. The aroma at this point will remind you of why you fell in love with cooking in the first place.
- While the salmon is baking, prepare your bowls by spooning the cooked rice into serving bowls and topping with steamed broccoli.
- Once the salmon is done, place a fillet atop each bowl of rice and broccoli. Sprinkle with sliced green onions and sesame seeds.
- Serve immediately, allowing the warmth of the freshly cooked dish to wrap around you like a cozy blanket.
As always, keep an eye on your salmon as it cooks. Every oven is a little different, and sometimes all it takes is a minute more or less to reach that perfect texture.
