Ingredients
Scale
- 1.5 pounds of sirloin steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley, for garnish (optional)
Feel free to swap out the sirloin for another cut like ribeye if you prefer a richer flavor. And if you’re out of fresh garlic, garlic powder can pinch-hit in a jiffy.
Instructions
- Start by patting the steak cubes dry with a paper towel. This step helps them sear nicely in the pan. Sprinkle them with salt and black pepper.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the steak cubes in a single layer, being careful not to overcrowd the pan. Sear them until browned on all sides, about 3-4 minutes per side. Remove the steak from the pan and set aside.
- Lower the heat to medium and add the butter to the same skillet. Once melted, stir in the minced garlic, cooking for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Pour in the honey and soy sauce, stirring to combine. Let the mixture simmer for 2-3 minutes until it thickens slightly.
- Return the steak bites to the skillet, tossing them in the honey garlic sauce until well coated. Cook for another 2 minutes until the steak is heated through and glistening with the sauce.
- Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve immediately.
Just like my mom could transform simple pantry staples into magic, this dish shows you don’t need much to create something special.
