Ingredients
Scale
Gathering the ingredients is a breeze, and many are likely already in your pantry. Here’s what you need:
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (use gluten-free if needed)
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup chopped parsley
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/3 cup honey
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
If you’re out of breadcrumbs, crushed crackers or oats work as great substitutes. For those who prefer a spicier kick, feel free to up the red pepper flakes.
Instructions
Here’s how to bring these flavorful meatballs to life:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground turkey, breadcrumbs, egg, soy sauce, garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined—don’t overwork the meat to keep the meatballs tender.
- Using your hands, roll the mixture into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through and slightly golden.
- While the meatballs are baking, prepare the sauce by heating olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Stir in the honey, soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, and red pepper flakes. Simmer for 5 minutes, allowing the sauce to thicken slightly.
- Once meatballs are done, transfer them to the pan and coat evenly with the sauce. Let them simmer for another 2-3 minutes to soak up all the flavors.
As my dad always said, “A good meal is in the details”—so don’t rush these steps. Let the sauce work its magic!
