Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pre-made pizza dough
- 1 cup ricotta cheese
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup hot honey
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves
- Salt and pepper to taste
Quick tip: If hot honey isn’t available, you can make your own by mixing honey with a pinch of red pepper flakes. It’s a little trick I picked up when I needed that spicy sweetness and didn’t have time to run to the store.
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 475°F. If you have a pizza stone, pop it in the oven while it heats up. This step ensures a crispy crust that’s just like the pizzerias.
- Roll out your pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness. I like mine a bit thin for that perfect balance of crispy and chewy.
- Transfer the dough to a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- In a small bowl, mix the ricotta cheese with a pinch of salt and pepper. Spread it evenly over the pizza dough, leaving a 1-inch border for the crust.
- Drizzle the olive oil over the ricotta cheese.
- Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella evenly over the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly.
- Remove the pizza from the oven and drizzle the hot honey over the top. Use as much or as little as your heart desires.
- Sprinkle the pizza with red pepper flakes and top with fresh basil leaves.
- Slice it up and serve hot, letting the gooey cheese and spicy honey meld together for a perfect bite.
Pro tip: If you’re cooking with kids, let them handle the honey drizzle. It’s a small task that makes them feel like a part of the magic!
