Savor the Flavor: Irresistible Smoked Cajun Cheese Burgers

Learn how to make delicious Irresistible Smoked Cajun Cheese Burgers. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend for juiciness)
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)
  • 4 burger buns
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • 4 slices of red onion
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Optional toppings: pickles, mustard, ketchup

If you don’t have Cajun seasoning on hand, don’t fret! You can mix a blend of paprika, cayenne, garlic powder, and a dash of oregano. Remember, cooking at home is about flexibility and using what you have, just like how my mom could whip up a feast with pantry staples.

Instructions

  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat. If using a charcoal grill, allow the coals to turn grayish-white for optimal smoking.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef with Cajun seasoning, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika. Mix gently until the spices are evenly distributed, being careful not to overwork the meat.
  3. Form the mixture into four equal patties, making a slight indentation in the center of each to prevent them from puffing up during cooking.
  4. Brush the burger buns with melted butter and set aside.
  5. Place the patties on the grill and cook for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until they reach your desired level of doneness. Add a slice of cheddar cheese on top during the last minute of cooking to melt.
  6. While the burgers are cooking, toast the buns on the grill for about 1-2 minutes until golden brown.
  7. Assemble the burgers by placing a lettuce leaf on the bottom bun, followed by the cheesy burger patty, tomato slice, red onion, and any additional toppings you love.
  8. Top with the other half of the bun and serve immediately.

One of my favorite memories is cooking these burgers with my kids on a summer evening, their little hands eagerly helping to assemble the toppings. It’s these moments of shared joy in the kitchen that make cooking an act of love.
