Ingredients
Scale
Gathering your ingredients is like preparing for a delightful journey. Here’s what you’ll need:
- 1 pound of large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 4 tablespoons of unsalted butter
- 4 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 cup of heavy cream
- 1/2 cup of grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 tablespoon of fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes (optional, for a little kick)
- 1 tablespoon of lemon juice
Feel free to adjust the spices to your taste. If you’re like my dad and love a bit of heat, those red pepper flakes are a must!
Instructions
Let’s dive into the magic-making part. Here’s how you bring this dish to life:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). This is when I usually take a moment to sip my wine and enjoy the calm before the cooking storm.
- In a large oven-safe skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Add the shrimp to the skillet, seasoning them with salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes if using. Cook them until they start to turn pink, about 2-3 minutes. Remove the shrimp and set them aside.
- Pour the heavy cream into the same skillet, scraping up any bits from the bottom. Bring it to a gentle simmer.
- Stir in the Parmesan and mozzarella cheeses, stirring until the sauce is smooth and creamy. Add the lemon juice and half of the chopped parsley.
- Return the shrimp to the skillet, ensuring they are well-coated with the sauce.
- Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes until bubbly and golden on top.
- Garnish with the remaining parsley before serving. This is the moment I love, the unveiling of what was once a medley of raw ingredients into something incredible.
