Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup almond flour
- 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed meal
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 large egg
For those with dietary restrictions or preferences, almond flour can be substituted with sunflower seed flour. And if you’re in a pinch, coconut oil works just as well as olive oil. These alternatives have been tested and loved by my family during our experimental kitchen days.
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. This step reminds me of my mom’s kitchen, where everything was about the right preparation.
- In a mixing bowl, combine almond flour, flaxseed meal, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and paprika. Stir until evenly mixed. My kids love taking turns with the mixing spoon!
- Add olive oil and egg to the dry ingredients. Mix until a dough forms. If it’s too sticky, add a spoonful of almond flour.
- Roll the dough between two sheets of parchment paper until it’s about 1/8 inch thick. Remember, the thinner, the crispier!
- Cut the dough into triangles using a pizza cutter or a sharp knife. This part is like crafting with food; my daughter calls it “art with snacks.”
- Transfer the cut pieces onto the baking sheet and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown. The aroma will fill your kitchen with warmth and anticipation.
